Parsley is a plant species are well known by the world community. Parsley comes from the Greek word meaning rock celery, and parsley is almost similar to celery. This plant is a plant that can be harvested throughout the year. If these plants are growing well, though it was harvested, the plants will grow and grow again, and so on

Although often used as a complementary dish as garnish,  excellent benefit of parsley for health is often overlooked, and plants that have very high nutrient content can be found throughout the year in traditional markets or supermarkets.

Benefit of parsley can serve more than just a garnish on a plate of food. Parsley contains two elements that can provide unique benefits for health. The first element is the content of volatile oil containing compounds limonene, myristicin, alpha-thujene, and eugenol. As for the second element containing the compounds of flavonoids such as apigenin, apiin, luteolin, and crisoeriol

Especially in the volatile oil parsley miriticin types have been shown to inhibit the formation of tumor cells, especially tumor in lungs, in experiments conducted on animals. Miriticin also shown to increase the action of the enzyme glutathione-S-transferase that can prevent damage to the body

Other benefits of parsley primarily derived from the volatile oil is consumed as food can neutralize carcinogens from the smoke of burnt trash or cigarette smoke. Part of the content of flavonoids in parsley substance called luteolin also very beneficial to health that serves as an anti-oxidant. A study conducted on animals proved that these substances can help improve the capacity of  the antioxidant of blood.  In addition, parsley also contains two nutrients that are nutritious for health that can prevent a variety of diseases. Two of these nutrients are vitamin A and vitamin C. Carotenoids, pro-vitamin A, and beta-carotene is present in concentrations of vitamin A that can be obtained from parsley.

Benefits of parsley is as vitamin C. This vitamin has many different functions, such as anti-oxidants and nutrients that can ward off toxins and free radicals. High levels of free radicals in the body can lead to various health problems and diseases, such as colon cancer, atherosclerosis, asthma, and diabetes. This was probably the cause, those who regularly consume vitamin C have a smaller risk of developing the disease. Vitamin C can also serve to address the inflammation that often leads to diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, in addition, the efficacy of vitamin C that can serve to boost immunity, can also cope with colds and ear infections.

The existence of parsley as complementary food dish often distract people from the benefits of parsley very much for healthcare. Most people know more about the function of parsley as a garnish or decoration in the presentation of the food rather than its function very much and efficacious to prevent and treat various illnesses, both minor illnesses such as colds or coughs, until the disease is quite severe as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes . They do not realize that a sprig of parsley stored in a myriad of benefits that are very good for health. Two of the most well known types of parsley are curly parsley and flat parsley.
